GLP-1
GLP-1 (7-37) is the biologically active form of glucagon-like peptide-1, cleaved from proglucagon in intestinal L-cells and select brainstem neurons. It is the endogenous ligand for the GLP-1 receptor, a class B GPCR that couples to Gs proteins and raises intracellular cAMP in pancreatic beta-cell and neuronal culture models. In receptor pharmacology laboratories it serves as the native reference agonist against which synthetic GLP-1R ligands are benchmarked in kinetic binding and functional cAMP assays.
